"HANDLING CHALLENGING
BEHAVIORS" WORKSHOP

A large percentage of classroom contact time is lost on handling challenging behaviors of students; including, those demonstrating a moderate range of A.S.D. This professional development workshop concentrates on intervention strategies to handle challenging behaviors of students before and after “triggers” are activated. The 3 H’s to assess a child’s temperament at the start of the school day and coping strategies for both children and teachers/staff are introduced and examined in depth. Motivation Scale Exercises (S.E.A.T.), video demonstrations, case studies, and role-playing are incorporated in this workshop to reinforce the strategies presented. Additionally, an accountability “parent-letter” is created and presented to each parent by the staff to ensure that their child is prepared each day to learn, develop, and enjoy the learning experience. At the conclusion of the workshop, each attendee is presented with a certificate of completion for professional credit.
