“School and Home: Developing an Effective Partnership” WORKSHOP

This workshop is designed specifically for teachers, family workers, and social workers who come in contact with parents on a daily basis. The relationship between educators and parents can often be defined as challenging and frayed. This workshop combines the Neuro-Linguistic Programming (NLP) communication module along with an empathy quotient scale to lower communication barriers; thus, creating a positive conduit to accelerate and facilitate open communication between education advocates and parents. Additionally, entrenched biases and attitudes will be examined in-depth for a greater understanding of the issues confronting parents today. An analysis of several case studies along with role-playing exercises will be explored to reinforce the strategies presented. Lastly, best-practice strategies to increase parent participation will be shared and discussed among the participants to create a solid partnership between education advocates and parents.
